The College of General Medicine and College of Dentistry are the two most popular ones of the university. International students can choose between the Russian and the English language of learning. However, a pre-medical training is provided to all to help them communicate with ease with the locals during their stay in the country and also with the aim of understanding patients better and thus delivering more appropriate treatment. Students of undergraduate courses receive a balanced teaching between practical and theoretical learning. Lessons are taught in small groups of 7-8 students each, making the classes highly effective. A concluding test follows each lesson and major topic to check how much of it they have followed. This also helps students to understand their academic position as compared to others and fosters healthy competition. Each semester ends with a final test for each subject.
Students can take up in-depth learning of each subject with the help of over 700000 books and many international journals of repute in the vast library of the university. They can also search information on the internet using the free internet centre inside the library. The departments of ophthalmology, surgery, obstetrics, cardiology, gynaecology and traumatology have over 15 multi-profile clinics where the students can learn about the practical side of their subject.
The university has 3 hostels to accommodate students with all modern facilities. The academic staff of the university also provides flats on rents for the students. The focus of the university on the physical fitness of its students is evident by its constant encouragement for taking part in sports activities. It also runs a swimming pool and a stadium on rent for its students. All applicants to the undergraduate courses of the university have to furnish a proof of completion of higher secondary education.
